Disaster Recovery Offering- PlanZ

Baytek International is proud to offer best in class CLOUD Hosting for our customers. When we chose a CLOUD platform to build our offering on, we built Test Systems in both Amazon AWS and Microsoft AZURE and studied them extensively. We considered: Reliability, Performance, Features, Customer Service, and Cost and chose Amazon AWS.

We have been pleased with our choice and so have our customers. All the considered factors, especially reliability and performance, have exceeded expectations. The feedback from our customers has been excellent and the CLOUD hosting division of Baytek is one of the fastest growing branches of our business.

We are very proud of our CLOUD Team at Baytek; they are continually innovating and improving our CLOUD offerings. In light of the massive CLOUD outage today, we are evaluating our customer’s exposure to ensure we are doing all we can to provide the best solutions.

The recent IT outage dominating the news cycle today did not impact Baytek CLOUD hosted customers, because Baytek is using a platform that was not impacted, however we are still asking the hard questions and looking for mitigation paths.

CLOUD Hosting is certainly here to stay. Baytek CLOUD Hosted customers have experienced compared to traditional platforms:

  • Better Baytek software performance
  • More immediate issue resolution and system support
  • Lower cost and more streamlined upgrade projects
  • And in general better system reliability and stability

CLOUD Hosting is certainly the future and will continue to improve in reliability, performance, and cost savings. However, there is a risk, even if it is a very small risk, for a total CLOUD Platform failure. Baytek wants to make sure we mitigate all risk.

Today we are offering PlanZ, an optional Disaster Recovery solution that will get our Customer’s system back up and running as quickly as possible even when faced with a complete CLOUD Platform failure that takes down all the redundancies built into a robust CLOUD System like the one Baytek uses.

First it is important to note that Baytek already employs offsite (off cloud) backups for all our CLOUD Customers, so even if the event today impacted our customers, the data loss would’ve been minimal. PlanZ is about more than data backup. PlanZ is about getting the Customers Baytek System(s) back up and running as quickly as possible. We understand that your Baytek Systems are critical to your business.

Today we are pleased to offer PlanZ, a Disaster Recovery plan that recovers from the previously unthinkable scenario in which a CLOUD system and all its inherent redundancy has a hard platform failure.

HERE IS PlanZ

  • Baytek will take a nightly backup from the CLOUD into our internal network which is 100% local to our office and not CLOUD dependent.
  • Baytek will purchase and configure a physical server system for a Named Customer that will be preconfigured, packaged, and stored in our office ready to go at a moment’s notice.
  • In the event of a complete CLOUD Platform failure, Baytek will take the backup taken from the CLOUD the night before, restore it to the physical server system that was prepared in advance for the Customer, and drive (or otherwise deliver in the most expedited way) the physical server system to the Customer’s location and assist with set up of the on premise backup system as quickly as possible.

We’ve named this solution PlanZ because we are very hopeful that we will never have to take it; it is a last resort. There are many DR recovery options in our DR plan that would be simpler and more attractive, however if all platforms are down and there is no other option, PlanZ is not reliant on any infrastructure that Baytek won’t have in house under our control, so PlanZ should always work.

We are not tin-foil-hat people at Baytek, but we are aware of other critical failure scenarios proposed by theorists. The PlanZ hardware would be kept off network and stored in shielded containers, so PlanZ would be a viable recovery plan for massive internet wide cyber attack and Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) hardware frying attacks.

PlanZ Solutions will be tailored for our Customers’ specific needs. If this solution is of interest, please contact us and we will build a bespoke proposal for your organization.

QC/Comply

RFG Compliance Batch Reporting

Baytek is continuing to develop new solutions to take our customer’s product quality management to new levels.

QC/Comply is a comprehensive system for tracking and reporting compliance with the EPA’s reformulated gasoline and anti-dumping rules and regulations.

This system manages regulated batch tracking for producers and importers of reformulated gasoline, reformulated gasoline blendstock for oxygenate blending (RBOB), conventional gasoline, or conventional gasoline blending components (CBOB).

Baytek’s dashboard displays guide users through the workflow of batch creation, certification, shipment and reconciliation.

The system populates EPA Unified Report Form for annual or quarterly batch reporting and performs calculations for Fuels Averaging, Banking, and Trading (ABT) credit program

Capabilities:

  • Reformulated Gasoline Batch Tracking
  • Product Shipment Tracking
  • Product Transfer Documents (PTD)
  • Quarterly and Annual Batch Reports
  • Annual ppm-gallons Sulfur calculations
  • Annual ppm-gallons Benzene calculations

Benefits:

  • Integrated: QC/Comply is fully integrated into Baytek’s BLISS all-Web automation platform and will interface to 3rd party LIMS
  • Secure and Auditable: QC/Comply is controlled through role-based security. All data is housed in SQL or Oracle database and fully auditable

Fit for Purpose

Baytek International’s methodology is to provide Fit-for-Purpose Solutions. QC/COMPLY was designed for:

  1. Managing EPA 40 CFR Part 1090 Batch Tracking
  2. Shipments and Automatic Product Transfer Documents
  3. Generate EPA RFG Report Form
  4. Annual Sulfur and Benzene ABT Calculations

This off-the-shelf functionality is embedded in the BLISS LIMS platform or may be delivered separately and interfaced to other LIMS platform or may be delivered separately and interfaced to other LIMS

TurboTube for Baytek LIMS software

Baytek International continues to provide innovative solutions for the advanced, analytical laboratory. TurboTube™, an automated sample vial distribution system. TurboTube allows the laboratory to take workflow automation and sample tracking, custody, and throughput to a whole new level.

TurboTube continues software connectivity to the sample vial. No longer does instrument automation only refer to data acquisition and run control, now instrument automation includes complete sample vial control and distribution. TurboTube networks all the GC instruments together into a centralized sampling system.

TurboTube uses an ingeniously simple pneumatic sample vial delivery system coupled with an advanced software program to manage sample transportation and tracking from sample preparation to the instrument, back to retainment, and ultimately to disposal.

Through the use of the Sample Bank, a centralized auto-sampler for the lab, TurboTube allows for centralized sample custody and intelligent instrument selection.

TurboTube is the most revolutionary lab automation invention since the autosampler! TurboTube is the centralized autosampler for the modern laboratory.

Features:

  • Transportation for any standard-size GC vial

RFIVial for Baytek LIMS software

Baytek International has developed a solution that leverages proven RFID technology to simplify the process of vial management in the laboratory environment. This cutting-edge toolkit, RFIVial™, uses a very small RFID affixed to a GC or HPLC vial that allows for the wireless reading and writing of up to two kilobytes of information. This is enough memory to store a method and channel an instrument. This toolkit allows for sample tracking, audit trails, and chain of custody transfers within the laboratory.

We have also written software and developed hardware to allow for the reading and writing of the RFIVial at both a sample preparation station and a GC autosampler. This functionality can be expanded with the toolkit to include any location or instrument throughout the lab and facility.

Benefits:

  • Automation of manual tasks
  • Increased accuracy
  • Faster testing runs
  • Enhanced safety
  • Higher return on investment

Capabilities:

  • Sample tracking
  • Custody transfer
  • Audit trails
  • Data storage
  • Integration with other components, such as: Chemstation™
  • Baytek International’s BayID RFID solution
  • AAIM (Baytek International’s instrument management and data collection system)
  • LIMS systems, such as Baytek International’s BLISS
